EDP Soccer has announced the Best XI from last weekend’s USYS Regional Showcase New England event. The selections were made based on the performance of the players during the tournament. Congratulations to all players who were selected. The Best XI from the USYS Regional Showcase New England are:
NJ PREMIER FC 2008B BLUE - ZACHARY DOSCH #15
Dosch is a great defender with tremendous pace and strength. A leader on the team, his decision making, ability on the ball and ability to organize the team led the team to an undefeated weekend with wins in all three games.
PDA HIBERNIAN SCHOLES WHITE - LUIGI BARRICELLI #15
Barricelli's defensive knowledge and positioning was excellent throughout the weekend. He displayed a competitive mentality on and off the field which made his teammates better.
NJ PREMIER FC 2006 - NELSON REYNOSO #4
Reynoso was steady at center back in all three games as the team went 3-0-0, keeping his composure and making crucial tackles to stop the opponent's attacks. He was also the starting point for the attack as the team built out from the back.
NEW ENGLAND SURF STATE NAVY 2005 - LUIS MEDINA #10
Medina scored four goals throughout the weekend and was the best player on the field every game throughout the weekend helping the team win every game.
NEW ENGLAND SURF STATE GREY 2004 - ISAAC HEFFESS #2
Heffess scored two goals from his right back position on the weekend and helped the team win all three games throughout the weekend with a combined 15-1 aggregate.
SEACOAST UNITED BEDFORD 2004 ELITE - EVAN HAAS #15
Haas was instrumental in the team's victories over some of the top 2004 teams in the region. He played every minute in every game and was a massive influence on the rest of the team with his leadership and determination to win each and every part of the challenge put in front of him. His one v one defensive work alongside his communication and direction are why he is drawing interest from top college programs.
QUICKSTRIKE FC 2003 NL BLUE - JORDAN BANFIELD #12
Banfield was crucial for the team playing out of the #10 position. He helped the attack by spreading the ball all over the field, while also taking the set pieces and converting a penalty kick Monday morning. Defensively he was the center of the team's full field press that we implemented for both of the last two games while still doing his offensive role. His play was exceptional and a key component that helped lead the team to win their bracket.
MASSAPEQUA WARRIORS B03 USYS NL - THOMAS O’NEILL #5
O’Neill was a key to the team's success all weekend long. The center midfielder was the engine to the team, as he scored three goals and helped the team keep a clean sheet in each game.
NEW YORK RUSH SELECT B03 - JUDE ROUHANA #10
Rouhana was an integral part of the team's play in the final third and finished the weekend with six goals. He is a creative attacking midfielder who was a threat every time that he got on the ball, despite drawing multiple defenders. His play helped the team come away with all nine points this weekend.
NEW ENGLAND SURF STATE NAVY 2002 - ALEX YOUNG #14
Young played every minute and was a major contributor to the team being undefeated through the weekend. As one of the team's CDMs, he marshalled the team and while he was not the leading goal scorer, he was instrumental in the creation of many of the goals the team scored.
CFC VALLEY 2002 - EURICO GOMES #9
Rico is a modern full back with attacking principles whose work ethic is unbelievable on both sides of the ball. He won 95% of the first and second balls and scored two goals and assisted two as well. He helped his team to win the last game from one goal down to 2-1 win, helping his team win their group. Gomes played every minute during the event.
