EDP Winter Classic 2024 - Tournament Recap



On December 7-8, EDP Soccer hosted its final tournament of the 2024 calendar year, the EDP Winter Classic. Over 230 teams competed with 40 divisions champions being crowned. The 230+ teams represented over 95 clubs from seven states; New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Connecticut, and Michigan. 

From clubs with five or more teams in attendance, NJ Nationals had the best points per game with 2.28, with wins in 18 of their 25 group stage games. Philadelphia Union SWAG had two of the top five scoring teams, with NJ Premier FC, River SC, and Trumbull United also in the top five scoring teams. Four clubs had two teams finish the group stages with a perfect three points per game, Deptford Premier FC, NJ Nationals FC, Philadelphia Union SWAG, and Voorhees SA.

In the Red Bracket, Philadelphia Union SWAG 2016 dominated all weekend long, was the event's highest scoring team, and did not allow a goal against. In the White Bracket, Pittsgrove Soccer Club Prime Black and Philadelphia Union SWAG 2017 met in the final, with both teams entering having not allowed goal. Pittsgrove won the championship match 2-1. 


In the Red Bracket, Cedar Stars Academy Bergen 2015 Boys NEAL II fell 2-0 in their opening match to NJ Premier B2015 - BLUE, but bounced back to record three straight wins, including a 3-0 win in the championship match over NJ Nationals FC 2015 Boys Blue. In the White Bracket, Valencia 15 Black won the bracket with a 3-1-0 record, and Springfield B15 Blue won the Blue Bracket. 

 

In the Red Bracket, Sporting Athletic Club 2014B Black won all four of their matches, defeating Cedar Stars Academy Staten Island B2014 Green 2-1 in the final. NorthStar FC 2014 won the White Bracket and NJ Nationals FC 2014 Boys Red won the Blue Bracket. 




In the Red Bracket, NJ Premier G2014 and NJ Nationals FC 2014 Girls Blue both went 3-0-0 in the group stage, with NJ Premier winning the final between the two sides 1-0. NJ Nationals FC 2014 Girls Red won the White Bracket going 4-0-0 with wins of 1-0, 2-0, 2-0, and 5-1. 


In the Red Bracket, Tournament Team Forza 2013’s defeated RCD Espanyol de Barcelona NJ 2013 JAVI PUADO 5-2 in the final. Tournament Team Forza Azzurri won the White Bracket, beating SJEB FC 13B Red in the final after the two teams tied earlier in the weekend. Cedar Stars Academy Hudson Valley 2013 NEAL White won the Blue Bracket. 


In the Red Bracket, River Soccer Club RSC '13 Girls brings the championship back to Delaware, finishing the weekend going 4-0-0. They defeated second-place Deptford Premier 13G Fusion - Pre-NL 2-1 and closed out the weekend with a 5-2 win over SJEB FC 13G Colonial. 




In the Red Bracket, there was a three-team tie at the top of the table that eventually saw SB4U VENLO LIME knock off Strikers Futbol Academy 2012 in the final. NJ Premier B2012 won the White Bracket going 3-1-0, and Trumbull United Boys 2012 Titans won the Blue Bracket going 4-0-0 and keeping four clean sheets. 


In the Red Bracket, Manhattan SC Spirit 2012 and PSA Monmouth '12 Girls EDP reached the final out of a three-way tie in the standings that also included STA MOSC 2012G GA NAL. In a bracket that saw no team score more than a total of four goals across their three games, each game was close, and the final was no different, with Manhattan SC coming away with the championship. 


In the Red Bracket, Cedar Stars Academy Hudson Valley 2011 NL beat Strikers Futbol Academy 2011 2-0 in the final. Cheshire Soccer Academy 2011 Boys Black won the White Bracket winning the final 3-1, and Cherry Hill FC 2011 Avengers won the Blue Bracket. 





In the Red Bracket, The Football Academy NJ 2011 Girls Black and Manhattan SC Ajax 2011 ECNL-RL drew 0-0 on day one, but their seven points were enough to see both sides through to the final. Unlike the first match up, this one was a high-scoring affair that saw The Football Academy win 5-3. 


In the Red Bracket, LI Slammers Boys 2010 RL defeated Baltimore Union Soccer Club Elite 10B 1-0 in the final. World Class FC 2010 ECNL RL won the White Bracket, Cape Express CE 2010 Blue Crush won the Blue Bracket on penalty kicks, and Deptford Premier FC '10 Boys won the Orange Bracket. 


In the Red Bracket, just two points separated first place from fourth place. Jersey Shore Boca Jr FC Shaka bounced back from an opening game 1-0 defeat to fourth place Manhattan SC Spurs 2010 ECNL-RL, and would win three in a row, including a 2-0 win over PSA Monmouth 10G Orange in the final. The Football Academy NJ 2010 Girls Black won the White Bracket on penalty kicks over HVAA Lions 2010, and American Soccer Club of NJ G15A won the Blue Bracket.  


In the Red Bracket, SFL Club 2009 Boys Black went unbeaten in the group stages not allowing a goal, and in the final, their back line held up again, this time defeating Cedar Stars Academy Monmouth NAL Academy 09 for the championship. SC Gjoa Haaland 2009 won the White Bracket, and Silver Lake Soccer Academy Thunder USYS won the Blue Bracket. 




In the Red Bracket, Jersey Shore Boca Jr FC O'Hara started off with a 1-1 draw against Voorhees SA Wildcats 2009, and then kept three straight clean sheets defeating VE Eagles, Manhattan SC Revolution 2009 ECNL-RL, and HVAA Lightning 2009 in the final 2-0. World Class FC 2009 ECNL RL won the White Bracket, and Cherry Hill FC 2009 Premier Surge won the Blue Bracket. 


In the Red Bracket, Cedar Stars Academy Monmouth NAL Academy 08 finished top of the table with 10 points after four very close matches with scores of 2-0, 2-0, 2-1 and 1-1. In the White Bracket, Deptford Premier FC '08 Boys won their fourth out of four with a championship win over Cedar Stars Academy Monmouth 2008B RAL. 


In the Red Bracket, NJ Nationals FC 2009 Girls Elite won the final 3-0 over Pennridge Yellowjackets SA United. NJ Nationals kept three clean sheets over the weekend and scored a total of 11 goals. 


In the Red Bracket, Triboro United 2007 Crimson defeated Jersey Shore Boca Jr FC DeBruyne 3-1 in the championship match after both teams finished the group stages 2-0-1. In the White Bracket, Princeton FC Liverpool Black and Voorhees SA Vortex 2007 went to penalty kicks in the finals after regulation ended 1-1, with Princeton FC winning 4-2 in the penalty shootout.
