EDP Spring Classic 2023 Boys Recap


This past weekend, EDP Soccer hosted the final part of the EDP Spring Classic for 8U-19U Boys teams. The Spring Classic Boys weekend was scheduled to see over 290 teams with more than 125 clubs in attendance. Games went ahead at Green Branch Park in Pittsgrove, NJ, with over 200 being played from 8U-12U. Over 1,000 goals were scored over the weekend, with SYC from Virginia having the three top scoring teams, each netting 15+ goals. There were 14 total teams who scored 10+ goals over the weekend, including three from Monmouth United SC, and one each from NJ Stallions, STA, RCD Espanyol, Morris Elite SC, PSA Princeton, East Brunswick SC, Middletown SC and The Football Academy NJ.
 

A Look At The Weekend’s Results



12U Boys

In the Red Bracket, Commack Vipers B11 from Long Island and TSF Academy 2011 Boys N.E.A.L Blue both made the final, finishing 2-0-1 in the group stages. TSF Academy, who was coming off a 1-1 draw against NLSA on Saturday afternoon, recorded back-to-back five-goal games on Sunday, leading them to the winners circle.


In the White Bracket, TSF Academy made it two-for-two in the age group as TSF Academy 2011 Boys N.E.A.L White defeated Ole Impact FC Regional B2011 3-2 in the final. TSF went unbeaten on the weekend, having gone 3-0-0 in the group stage, including a 1-0 win over Liverpool FC Academy NJ LFCNJ 2011 Boys Central in their opener.


Other winners included Pasco Soccer Club in the Blue Bracket and Cohansey Premier 2011 White in the Orange Bracket.


11U Boys

In the Red Bracket, both groups were very close at the top. In Bracket A, SYC 2012B Pre-MLS Next edged out New York Red Bulls Pre-Academy 2012 South by one point. Their 1-1 draw against Monmouth United Soccer MUSC 2012 Boys Premier in the final group game was enough to see them through to the final. In Bracket B, STA-MUSC 2012B Pre-ECNL advanced on head-to-head tiebreaker when they and New York Red Bulls Pre-Academy 2012 NY finished level on six points. In the final, SYC would come away as 4-1 winners.


In the White Bracket, SYC 2012B Academy and Coppermine SC Boys 2013 Premier I both went 3-0-0, meeting in the final where SYC won their second championship of the age group. The recorded wins in group play of 5-2 over Barca Academy Pro NY B2012 LEWANDOWSKI, 5-4 over The Football Academy NJ 2012 Boys Gold and 5-0 over TSF Academy 2012 Boys Blue.



Other winners included Coppermine SC Boys 2013 Premier II in the Blue Bracket, Middletown SC Explosion Red in the Yellow Bracket, and Monmouth United Soccer MUSC 2013 Boys Premier in the Green Bracket.



10U Boys

In the Red Bracket, New York Red Bulls Pre-Academy 2013 North finished in first place going 4-0-0. After opening with a 5-4 win over SJEB FC 13B Red, they had big wins over Medford SC and TSF Academy 2013 Boys Blue, and closed out the weekend with a 2-1 win over second place SYC 2013 Academy.


In the White Bracket, Barca Academy Pro NY B2013 PEDRI defeated Cape Express Avengers 2013 3-0 in the final. Both teams entered having gone 3-0-0 in group play with Barca Academy allowing just one goal all tournament.


RCD Espanyol de Barcelona NJ 2013 North won the Blue Bracket defeating TSF Academy 2014 Boys Futures Blue in the final.


9U Boys

In the Red Bracket, two teams stood out from the rest, as SYC 2014B Academy and Coppermine SC Boys 2014 Premier I both went 3-0-0 through the group stage. SYC 2014B Academy would come out on top in the final by a 3-0 scoreline.


In the White Bracket, SYC 2014B Blue capped off their impressive weekend with a 4-1 win in the final over Monmouth United Soccer MUSC 2014 Boys Premier. SYC advanced to the final after defeating second-place Futboltech 2014 - Juventus 3-2 in the final group stage game.


8U Boys

In the Red Bracket, Barca Academy Pro NY B2015 TER STEGEN, Match Fit Academy FC NJ Surf Mercer 2015 Boys, and STA-MUSC 2015B Pre-ECNL all finished level on six points. Barca Academy advanced to the final on the ‘goals for’ tiebreaker. In the final, they came up against SYC 2015B Academy, who dominated through group play unbeaten with three clean sheets, and SYC again dominated the final, shutting out Barca Academy to claim the championship.
