EDP Soccer College POTW: Taylor Calheira



Taylor Calheira, a former standout for BRAUSA and a Senior at Division 1 program UMBC continues his stellar collegiate career with a clutch week for his team. In their first game of the week, he scored in the 84th minute to tie the match at 4-4 vs Navy, and had the assist on the teams third goal as they fought back from a 4-1 deficit. In the next match vs UMass Lowell, he scored the winning goal in the 88th minute.

The team is now 6-2-3, and Calheira has nine goals and two assists for the season, making him one of the leading scorers in the county. He has 31 goals and 14 assists for his career, putting him eighth on the school's all-time goal scorers list. During his first three seasons, he was named 2022 America East Striker of the Year, 2022 America East First Team, 2021 America East First Team honors, and 2020 (Spring 2021) America East All-Rookie Team honors.

While a member of BRAUSA United 02, Calheira was the leading scorer in the 2018-2019 National League with eight goals, and played in the 2019 Allstate All American game, an honor for the top high school players in the country. He also participated in the National League in 2019-2020 and reached the finals of the US Youth Soccer Eastern Regional Championships in 2019.
