EDP Cup Spring 2022 Boys Best XI

EDP Soccer has announced the Best XI Boys from last weekend’s EDP Cup Spring event. The selections were made based on the performance of the players during the tournament. Congratulations to all players who were selected. The Best XI Boys from the EDP Cup Spring 2022 are:

BEACHSIDE U14 MLS NEXT 2008 - MATTHEW WEST #3
BARÇA ACADEMY PRO NJ B2008 PRO - DAVID SANCHEZ #4

David played as a center-midfielder, playing with a very good technique and associating very well with his teammates. He showed a good ability to interpret different game situations when the team had the ball and when the team did not have it. He occupied a major part in the center of the field. He was also capable of overcoming lines of pressure driving the ball or connecting with teammates, which allowed him to get close to the opponent's goal to finish the action.

BEACHSIDE U13 MLS NEXT 2009 - DANIEL WALSH #7
MANHATTAN SC ATLETICO 2009 BLUE - RONNEY VILLALOBO #56

Villalobo used his speed, quickness and goal-scoring instincts to lead the Manhattan SC Atletico 2009 Blue in scoring over the weekend. The dangerous forward scored in each of his team's three preliminary Platinum bracket victories to earn a spot in the final match.

DUSC 2001 - BEN CRUISE #26
BARÇA ACADEMY PRO NJ B2010 PRO - JOHN RECINE #1

John had a great tournament where he had interventions of great merit. Solid at all times as goalkeeper, he gave the team a lot of security and above all, highlighted his leadership capacity in the team. He was, without a doubt the best of the team during this tournament especially for his saves at crucial moments and for his personality during the tournament in all the games.

EAST COAST FC BOCA JUNIORS - SAUL PERAZA #7

Peraza was the standout player in one of the strongest defenses of the tournament, conceding only five goals across four games played. Saul was strong in both attacking and defending moments, including two goal-line clearances and he consistently pulled the strings while the team looked to keep possession of the ball.

FUTBOLTECH 2011 CHELSEA - RILEY BROAD #10

Riley, a girl playing with the boys at the highest level, stepped up in the middle of the field and controlled the game with her skill and soccer IQ. She scored two goals and gave two assists. She was the difference maker in the last game by assisting the winning goal.

SJEB FC 11B RED - MICHAEL BROWN #28

Michael played outside-back and was a constant part of the team’s attack. This weekend he helped the team buildup with his wide play and constantly joined the team in the final third, creating scoring chances while helping his team keep possession. His defensive play this past weekend was outstanding, helping the team to a record of three wins and one tie.

PDA HIBERNIAN MATTHAUS 2008 - DARRIN DOYLE #18

Darrin played an integral role in shutting down the opposition’s attack, especially the last two games where he helped earn two shutouts. Darrin won numerous tackles in the midfield and was able to spur the attack with key outlet passes.

MILTON YOUTH SOCCER CLUB BLUE 2009 - ANDREAS ZAPRIANOV #8

Andreas was a constant threat for the defenders this past weekend. His ability to find the back of the net in any position was beautiful to watch. Lead scorer of his team, his two goals in the third game secured a spot in the finals. Despite the fatigue and the pressure, he found the composure to score the last penalty kick to secure the win in the finals.
