EDP Cup Fall Showcase 2023 Boys Tournament Recap



Over Thanksgiving weekend, EDP Soccer hosted the second half of the EDP Cup Fall Showcase 2023, annually one of the top college showcase tournaments in the region. The weekend hosted over 225 15U-19U Boys teams from 90 plus different clubs. Nearly 100 college coaches pre-registered to see players from each of the country's top league platforms in one location. Top teams from MLS Next, National Academy League, ECNL, and National League all competed, representing Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Canada.

19U Boys

The 19U Boys Platinum Bracket, HEX FC Dominion ECNL 06B went a perfect 3-0-0 defeating three very tough opponents. In the opening match, they defeated STA 05/06B ECNL 2-1, followed by a 2-0 win over Canada’s York United FC Academy U19, and then closed the weekend with a 3-0 win over USYS National Championship participant WUSC 06. On day two of the event, STA 05/06B ECNL defeated Sporting PA 2006 Boys in what was one of the more anticipated matches of the weekend, that had college coaches lining the sidelines. CS St Hubert won the Gold Bracket with scores of 2-0, 1-0, and 3-0, and FC Frederick 06B won the Silver Bracket going 3-0-0 and scoring an impressive 10 goals over their three matches. Other age groups winners included Ironbound SC Elite Blue, FC Copa B06 Black Flemington, Sporting PA 2005 Boys, Deptford Premier FC '05/06 Boys, South Kent, Jersey South FC United, and Jersey Shore Boca Jr FC Maradona.


17U Boys

In the 17U Boys Platinum Bracket, FC Copa B07 Gray Rutgers came in first place, going 3-0-0 winning each match by one goal. They recorded back-to-back 3-2 wins to start the event with wins over STA 2007 ECNL and HEX FC Dominion ECNL 07B, a game where they went up 3-0 early in the second half and was able to hold off a late fury by HEX. In the final match, they defeated East Meadow SC ECNL B2007 2-1. In the Gold Bracket, BW Gottschee '07 II from NAL went 3-0-0, defeating JFC-Bayern 2-1 in their final game after having back-to-back 2-0 wins. Lancaster FC U17 won the Silver Bracket, opening with a 2-2 draw then having back-to-back 2-1 wins. Other age groups winners included Jersey Shore BOCA Jr FC 07, RUSA B2007 Gold, Mercer United FC Storm, World Class FC 2007 ECRL, FC Copa B07 EDP Black Metuchen, STA-MUSC 2007B ECRL, Liverpool FCNJ 2007 Boys Red Burlington, and Union Soccer Lancers Blue 07.



16U Boys

In the 16U Boys Platinum Bracket, three sides went 2-0-1, as Ironbound SC 2008 NAL, Sporting PA 2008 Boys, and YMS 2008 Boys Premier Celtic NL EDP all finished on seven points, Ironbound won the bracket, defeating Manhattan SC Barcelona 2008 ECNL on the final day to finish with a +6 goal differential over Sporting PA with +5 and YMS with +4. In the Gold Bracket, HEX FC Dominion ECNL 08B went 3-0-0, keeping two clean sheets and finishing with a 4-2 win over JFC-Dortmund. Other age groups winners included FA Euro New York 2008 NAL, Princeton SA Elite 64 08B, Stateline SC-2008B Bears, BVB IA Pittsburgh 08B Premier, Manhattan SC Barcelona 2008 ECRL, NY Hota SC2008 White, Wall Elite Red Bulls, and Deptford Premier FC '08 Boys.


15U Boys

In the 15U Boys Platinum Bracket saw Woodbridge 2009 Boys OPDL, STA 2009B ECNL, and Manhattan SC Atletico ECNL B09 each go 3-0-0. Each team went into day three with a chance to win the bracket on goal differential tie-breaker, and STA was able to separate itself from the group, winning 4-0 while Manhattan won 3-0 and Woodbridge won 2-0. In the Gold Bracket, STA-MOSC 2009B E64 won the bracket going 2-0-1, and Torpedoes BU15 Red won the Silver Bracket going 3-0-0. Other age groups winners included Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals 09B ECRL, HEX FC Dominion USYS 09B, World Class FC 2009 ECRL, STA 2009B USYS, and STA-MOSC 2009 EDP Boys.
