This weekend, EDP Soccer will host the second half of the EDP Cup Fall Showcase 2023, which is annually one of the top college showcase tournaments in the region. The second weekend of the event will feature over 230 15U-19U Boys teams, with top teams from youth soccer’s most competitive platforms, including MLS Next, National Academy League, ECNL, USYS National League, EDP League, plus several standout international teams. The Boys weekend will be held at Tuckahoe Turf Farms and Green Branch Park, and has over 100 college coaches pre-registered for this elite competition.
A look at some of the event's top Boys brackets:
MLS Friendlies
Several MLS Next Friendlies will be hosted on the Saturday of the event, and will feature Real Jersey FC, TSF Academy, BW Gottschee, and Cedar Stars Academy Monmouth’s 17U and 19U MLS Next teams. Each club has a strong pedigree of placing players in top college programs, and in recent years have placed players at top schools, including University of North Carolina, University of Michigan, St. John’s, UPenn, Monmouth, Lafayette, Rutgers, Siena, FDU, Fordham, and more!
19U Boys
The 19U Boys Platinum Bracket has five of the top teams in the region plus one of Canada’s top sides. Hex FC Dominion ECNL 06B reached the semi-final of USYS Eastern Regionals last Summer, and is a former State Cup Champion. Sporting PA 2006 Boys went 1-1-1 at USYS National Championships last Summer after qualifying through National League P.R.O. WUSC 05/06 also attended USYS National Championships after winning five consecutive games in National League P.R.O. STA 05/06B ECNL has been one of the top teams in ECNL, and has attended US Club Nationals the past two years. York United FC Academy U19 will travel down from Canada, and Lancaster Football Club rounds out this top group.
The 19U Boys Gold Bracket is also filled with top sides, showing the impressive depth across the age group in this event. CS ST-HUBERT from Quebec returns to the event after winning in the Gold Bracket at last year's showcase, going 2-0-1. PSA Monmouth 06/05 Boys won the NJYS State Cup last season and BRAUSA '05/'06 Blue were MSYSA State Cup Finalists. Hunter 62 Blues 05/06 attended USYS National Championships last Summer where they went unbeaten with a 1-0-2 record. East Meadow SC ECNL BOCA 2006 and Medford Strikers Academy Boys 2006 round out this bracket.
17U Boys
The 17U Boys Platinum Bracket includes Hex FC Dominion ECNL 07B, who were one of the top teams in both USYS National League and ECNL last season, and are returning with a deep roster of top players. They are joined by STA 2007B ECNL and East Meadow ECNL B2007 which will take on top National Academy League and National League teams. FC Copa B07 Gray Rutgers finished near the top of the Mid Atlantic Conference table, and was in National League P.R.O. last season. Ironbound 2007 NAL RAIDERS went 11-0-1 in NAL, and has been one of the age groups top teams since its inception. TSF Academy 2007 Boys NAL won the National Academy League Playoffs last season.
16U Boys
The 16U Boys Platinum Bracket features Yardley Makefield Soccer 2008 Boys Premier Celtic NL EDP who have been to back-to-back USYS National Championships. Two years ago they reached the National Semi-Final, and last year they went unbeaten, going 1-0-2. Also, from Pennsylvania, is Sporting PA 2008 Boys, who were USYS National Semi-Finalists and are the returning EDP Cup Showcase champions. Matrix Mavens from Maryland were part of National League P.R.O., and Ironbound 2008 NAL and SYC U16B MLS Next II are both from the National Academy League. Manhattan Barcelona 2008 ECNL rounds out this bracket.
